Mark Landon Honored with Pat Martin Excellence in District Leadership Award

Mark Landon, President of the Inland Empire agency Figlo & Landon, was awarded the inaugural Pat Martin Excellence in District Leadership Award at the American Advertising Federation National Convention, ADMERICA, on June 7, 2016, by AAF Council of Governors Chairman, AJ Busé.

Landon, a long time contributor to the American Advertising Federation on a local, district, and national level, has served two terms as President of AAF-Inland Empire, twice as AAF District 15 Governor, served as Western Region Chair for two terms, represented District 15 for 15 years on the American Advertising Awards National Committee, and has dedicated countless hours speaking at numerous local, regional, and national events, conferences, and meetings. Landon has visited every club in District 15 multiple times, lending his talents to mentor and assist. It is for these reasons that Landon was an admirable choice for this Award.

The Pat Martin Excellence in District Leadership Award was created to honor the late Pat Martin, whose passing in November of 2015 was felt across the AAF’s network and the industry. Pat was among the first women to break into the advertising industry and was a leader throughout her career as the first woman ad director in one company, a pioneer in the integration of advertising, promotion and sales training and the first woman chair of the American Advertising Federation. Pat championed ethical practices and served as a role model and mentor as a dedicated leader within the AAF and its District 2. The award is given to a member who exemplifies Pat’s work by making outstanding contributions to his or her District.

“I am so excited to have received this award and be honored for my participation with the AAF," Landon stated. "And to receive it in front of the many people who I admire and with whom I have served with makes it even more special.”

Landon's award was presented at the Salute to AAF Achievers Luncheon in front of a packed audience of AAF leaders from across the organization.

"We're are very fortunate to have Mark as a member and leader of our local club," Susan Anderson, President of the AAF-Inland Empire stated. "He is a driving force, whose vision and dedication is felt in many areas of our club."

Qualifications to be nominated for this award included being someone who demonstrated leadership by building consensus within the District leading to grown in leadership, programming, and industry status, serve as a mentor by providing guidance, strategic planning, and the necessary tools to local clubs to acheive their mission and goals, demonstrate  innovation, has devoted a minimum of five years of their professional life working on behalf of the District on the national level, and work diligently "behind the scenes" on behalf of the District and the AAF.
